Description
Every great safety team starts somewhere. The Jr. Member Pond Safety Team program gives strong swimmers a structured introduction to aquatic safety awareness, buddy systems, and the responsibility of looking out for others. Graduates earn their Jr. Pond Safety Team certification and assist counselors during open swim.
Why We Do It
We run one of the most safety-conscious waterfront programs in the region, and we want campers to understand why — not just follow the rules. When kids learn the principles behind water safety, they carry those habits home for life. The Jr. Member program creates campers who are genuinely invested in keeping everyone safe.
What Your Kid Gets
– Instruction in buddy-check procedures, non-swimmer awareness, and safe dock etiquette
– A supervised session shadowing our lifeguard team during open swim
– Introduction to waterfront staff communication signals
– An official Jr. Pond Safety Team certificate and collectible patch
– Recognition at Friday closing circle in front of the full camp
How It Works
Campers must be at least 9 years old and pass our swim assessment at the Competent level or above. The certification runs across two dedicated 45-minute waterfront sessions. Space is limited (max 8 per cohort).
