Fishing at Autumn’s Gate teaches stillness, focus, patience, and the magic of paying attention to nature. The Fishing Helper Certification was designed so that campers who love it can go further — and eventually give back by helping others learn.
What Your Kid Gets
– Instruction in rod setup, casting, baiting, and responsible catch-and-release
– Pond ecology deep dive — what lives in there and why it matters
– Supervised junior guide time helping younger campers with their first cast
– An official Fishing Helper Certificate and a custom enamel fishing lure pin
– Recognition at Friday closing circle
How It Works
Open to campers ages 8 and up — no prior fishing experience required. Two 1-hour dock sessions during normal activity blocks. Skills check: casting accuracy + correct knot tying. Those who pass join the Fishing Helper roster for the remainder of the session.
