JOB DESCRIPTION:
We’re looking for great people to join our team! Do you have a passion for animals and their proper care? Are you ‘crazy’ like us, in that working in the barn feels more like therapy than work? If so, we need awesome people like you to help with the basic care of our farm family, and the general upkeep of the facility.
Your responsibilities may include:
- - clean and maintain stables and animal enclosures
- - basic upkeep of facility, including sweeping, cleaning and some occasional minor repairs
- - manage feed room to ensure inventory is kept in stock, clean and organized
- - ensure proper daily dietary requirements are met for each animal
- - ensure lessons and visitors are engaging in safe behavior and abiding by the "Barn Rules"
- - cleaning, maintaining and organizing barn supplies and equipment, including tack
- - occasionally (if needed and appropriate) preparing horses for lessons, including lunging, and tacking up
- - occasional barn/farm projects as needed, and if appropriate
- - occasional help with setting up, running, tearing down for events
- - occasionally assisting Field Hands on projects such as pasture fence or spring cleanup
- - making sure EVERYONE HAS FUN! 🙂
Before we take any more of your time, please do not apply unless you believe you can be an equally contributing part of a team that is positive, upbeat, and eager to learn and to grow.
We hope to instill confidence, empowerment, and responsibility in everything we do, we just so happen to ride horses.Â
If these are not qualities that you agree with or that you find of little importance… you won’t like it here very much.
Please only apply if you generally AGREE with the following statement:
“Life is pretty awesome!”
If your ONLY motivation is to get through the work to get a paycheck, may I suggest a less demanding, more standardized position; such as in retail, hospitality or of the many wonderful quick serve restaurants in our area. We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares for, and loves working with animals first and foremost.
If we haven’t scared you away with the aforementioned guidance, then we’re really excited to meet you!
A few additional qualifications include:
- - experience working on a farm or with animals, especially horses, is a plus but not required. We like to teach… it’s kind of our thing 😉
- - this is hard but rewarding work, being in good physical condition and able to work in a variety of weather conditions is a must
- - a fun and energetic service-oriented attitude is required
- - take ownership of your work and demonstrate initiative when something needs being done
- - the ability to work with a team and create camaraderie is a MUST!
- - basic understanding of technology to track tasks and projects (like ‘know how to use an iPhone’ basic)
- - experience operating machinery such as a tractor or power tools is a plus but not required
- - reliable transportation and time management
