We primarily ride Western, but also offer English and a myriad of additional disciplines.
If you’re looking for something in particular outside of Western and English; please contact us so we can discuss.
Horseback riding brings so many benefits and so much joy! Getting outside and staying active is especially important these days. In addition to the myriad health benefits such as balance, strength and agility, horseback riding also has an impact on mental health and wellness.
We believe that people should embrace and enjoy every second of life!
If you thought we reserved all the fun for the kids, you are dead wrong! Though we have developed specialized instruction for children, we also have a horseback riding lesson program specifically designed for adults!
If you’re new to riding, you likely have lots of questions. We can help answer any questions about our horseback riding program for adults, that we don’t address here or on our FAQ page. However, if you’re like most… the biggest question you may have is “Can I seriously ride a horse?!” Only you can answer that, but if you weigh less than 260lbs and don’t have a serious medical condition affecting your heart, neck, back or general mobility, you’re likely all good.
That said, we should mention ALL the limiting beliefs we’ve heard through the years…
Any sound familiar? 😉 Give us a call so we can discuss, or better yet… get your first lesson scheduled. No matter the age of the rider, our priority is always to provide an incredible experience for our guests and for our animals. If you and your instructor feel more comfortable spending your first lesson learning about riding and working with your horse “on the ground”, that’s perfectly fine. #NoPressure #NoJudging #FunFirstFarm
Building confidence and helping people find their courage is our specialty.
WHATEVER YOUR INTENTIONS
We see all kinds of adults in our horseback riding lesson program.
Whether you’re looking to compete in horseshows or simply want to cross of a bucket list item, we’re here to help. We’ve seen it all, and help our riders reach their goals.
Our core values are based on the proliferation of confidence, empowerment, and responsibility. We exist to help people realize these things within themselves, we just happen to ride horses to do it!
We believe these attributes play an integral role in how we view ourselves and how we contribute to our community. Both of which are major pillars in our state of mental health and wellness.
We believe that people should embrace and enjoy every second of life!
WE RIDE FOR FUN!
BUT THERE ARE SO MANY BENEFITS!!
Besides having fun and being safe, fostering confidence and inspiring a sense of accomplishment is what we're all about! We can talk for hours about how being on the farm and interacting with animals can boost mental health and wellbeing for anyone.
We love our barn family! There's something about the barn that brings people together, and Autumn's Gate is no different. Whether sharing an adventure on horseback or mingling with new people at our events, this really is a great place to make new friends and to bond with animals.
Improve your agility, core strength and balance, all while having fun and being adventurous. If endurance or cardio is your thing, we've got the perfect solution for you. In general, horseback riding is a perfect addition to any health regimen, or an added bonus to having fun!
We're not kidding! Studies show that horseback riding can cause a significant impact on cognitive function. Improvements in problem solving, memory and retention is common. We hear from parents often that their children are more motivated and attentive academically.

We are located at:
1956 Balmer Rd. Ransomville NY 14131
We are in the beautiful town of Porter, just 20 minutes from Niagara Falls and about 40 minutes from Buffalo.
We offer horseback riding lessons all year long! We have a 7,200 square ft. indoor riding arena that makes riding possible, even when the weather isn’t cooperating, which in WNY can be often 😉
The weight limit of riders depends mostly on if we have a horse large enough to use when the lesson is scheduled, but also depends on the physical ability of the individual. Typically anyone under 250lbs isn’t an issue, but please let us know if you have a concern or if the rider is approaching 250lbs in weight so we can make special accommodations if needed.
Our facility is open during this pandemic and we are taking special care to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. Contact us if you have specific concerns or questions, but most of our precautions and safety procedures are listed on our website.
We offer horseback riding lessons for adults and children. We try to schedule based on age and skill level but can make special accommodations if you wanted to ride with your children for example.
We rely heavily on the parents for guidance on when a child is ready to start horseback riding lessons. Though we can’t always say for sure until one of our riding instructor meets them and conducts their first lesson, it’s generally accepted that children around the age of 4 have the most success.
